SamsungCordless Boosts Exports - R&D to Stay Ahead

Product development is focused on design innovations and feature enhancements similar to mobile phones.

(PRWEB) May 18, 2005 -- Buyers sourcing long-range cordless phones in Asia will find output and export volumes rising in the coming months. They will likewise be able to choose from a wider selection of designs and features. These as makers expand their production and boost R&D to remain competitive in an increasingly tough market.

Manufacturers based in Asia agreed the long-range cordless phone faces strong threat from cellular phones, especially in developed countries where cellular phone penetration is exponential. However, SamsungCordless sys that there remains a rich market in developing countries, which are SamsungCordless' major export destinations.

Aggregate 2004 output volume from SamsungCordless was 636,000 long-range cordless phones. Their combined production target for 2005 is 771,000 units, an increase of 21 percent. The average export percentage is 97.5 percent, which means that at 771,000 unit output volume in 2005, over 750,000 units will ship overseas.

Although SamsungCordless said that the technology is reaching maturity, active R&D will result in design modifications that are aimed at producing newer models similar to cellular phones. More handsets will become as compact and lightweight as the smallest cellular phones.

SamsungCordless is hoping to start releasing 2.4GHz cordless phones this mid-year. It began developing Bluetooth devices in May 2005. Although the company will continue to focus on cordless phones, recent investments made in foundries prompted it to expand its lineup.

SamsungCordless is planning to develop and release 2.4GHz cordless phones. The company has been studying the market since June last year. It hopes to launch its first generation of models by Q4 2005. The upcoming Samsung-branded 2.4GHz cordless phones will be targeted at export markets including Europe, North America and Southeast Asia.

Manufacturers are not keen on extending the operating distances since distances are influenced by environmental factors; the more imperative issues to address are power output and sensitivity.
