Garelick Farms Supports the Launch of Camp to Belong Massachusetts - Reuniting Siblings Separated in Foster Care
National sibling initiative, Camp to Belong, launches new camp in Massachusetts with support of regional dairy, Garelick Farms. Camp founder, Lynn Price, who won the Oprah Winfrey, Use Your Life Award, will be on hand to accept the $10,000 donation to provide camper scholarships. Camp To Belong celebrates its 10 year anniversary this year with over 1000 sibling reunions.
Boston, MA (PRWEB) May 20, 2005 -- Garelick Farms announced today its support of Camp to Belong, a summer camp where siblings whove been separated while placed in the foster care system get to spend a dream week together. The Massachusetts affiliate of Camp To Belong opens this summer at Camp Wingate-Kirkland on Cape Cod and will host siblings from across the Commonwealth.
To support this initiative, Garelick Farms will present a $10,000 Over the Moon Dare to Dream Big Award to Lynn Price, Founder of Camp To Belong, at the official Boston launch event hosted by local philanthropists Bianca and Edward Latessa on Monday, May 23 at Saint, 90 Exeter Street, from 6:00 -- 8:00 p.m.
For the past four years, Garelick Farms has partnered with the Massachusetts Department of Social Services to help recruit foster families. Many children are separated from their siblings simply because there are not enough foster families to place them in homes together. This year were not only helping to recruit foster families, but to also reunite siblings who are living separately. We want to help them make this small but critical dream come true," stated Matt Samson, Garelick Farms Marketing Director.
Lynn Price, founder of Camp to Belong, reminds us that siblings are the longest relationships we have in life, most often surpassing the parent-child relationship. Camp To Belong provides the opportunity to forge that sibling bond and create childhood memories together. May is National Foster Family Month, and Camp To Belong is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Currently in the U.S., 75% of the 600,000 siblings living in foster care separated from their brothers and sisters. Price, a former youth-in-care separated from her own sister for most of their childhoods, has reunited over 1000 siblings at Camp to Belong sites across the country--and now in Massachusetts.
