SourceOne and IDC Initiated Nationwide Distribution Relationship in November 2004 at Annual RSNA Meeting

SourceOne Healthcare Technologies, Inc., a leading distributor of medical imaging systems, equipment, radiographic consumable supplies and services to healthcare facilities and the U.S. Government, today announced that the company’s nationwide distribution rights to deliver Imaging Dynamics Company, LTD., (IDC TSXV Symbol IDL) innovative and affordable direct digital radiography (DR) solutions have generated strong equipment sales during the first quarter ended March 31, 2005.

Primarily marketed to hospitals, imaging centers, specialty clinics, and orthopaedic centers, IDC’s distinctive line of DR equipment commanded the attention of the industry and customers at the November, 2004 RSNA meeting. Marketed as the Xplorer™ DR system, the line is considered to be the industry’s most affordable, and is the first system-of-its-kind to be offered at less than $200,000 – attributes that have created a buzz in the industry in recent months.

Most recently, MD Byline, an independent market intelligence organization, rated the IDC DR system number one among industry competitors. With a composite customer satisfaction ranking of 9.8, out of 10, IDC ranked higher than General Electric, Philips, Siemens, Toshiba, Eastman Kodak, and others. IDC scored a 10 rating on three of the six categories evaluated: System Reliability (10.0), Installation/Implementation (10.0) and Applications Training (10.0).

IDC and SourceOne realized a tremendous first quarter of 2005 selling more than 50 of the company’s Xplorer™ systems. IDC and SourceOne also announced that a significant number of customers are expected to make decisions and take delivery of IDC’s DR systems within the near future. Out of the IDC DR product family, the recently introduced Xplorer™ 1600 represents the majority of new order interest.

“IDC’s technology represents the strongest price to performance DR offering in the digital X-ray market and has been readily adopted by hospitals, imaging, and outpatient centers and orthopaedic clinics throughout the country,” said Jerry C. Cirino, president and CEO, SourceOne Healthcare Technologies. “IDC’s product line is commanding the attention of key decision-makers to now look at DR as an affordable digital solution with superior productivity.”

“SourceOne has greatly impressed us with their ability to bridge many of the coverage gaps that we had been experiencing prior to signing our nationwide distribution agreement,” said Darryl Stein, president and CEO, Imaging Dynamics Co. “SourceOne’s excellent reputation will greatly increase our road to success for meeting our U.S. sales objectives in 2005 and beyond.”

With strong interest from all sectors of healthcare, SourceOne and IDC have installed Xplorer™ 1600 systems in facilities of all sizes, ranging from customers with fewer than 200 beds to large teaching hospitals. The first SourceOne sale of the Xplorer™ 1600 was to the Redmond Regional Medical Center (RRMC), in Rome, GA, a 200-bed acute care facility that serves Northwest Georgia and portions of Eastern Alabama. Founded in 1972, RRMC’s primary focus is on Cardiac care, emergency treatments, and the operation of an innovative rehabilitation center and advanced center for the treatment of diabetes.

According to SourceOne’s Dick Pacenta, vice president of marketing, “The new Xplorer™ 1600 was the perfect match to meet the high standards and organizational goals of RRMC’s 247 physicians and 1,200 support staff associates. The capabilities behind the system, combined with the affordability, made for a compelling reason to purchase IDC’s DR solution.”

“Our imaging department is responsible for the performance of approximately 80,000 procedures annually,” said Curt Layton, director of radiology, RRMC. “While researching ways to improve our delivery of service to our patients and physicians, we wanted to explore all options. After completing a site visit, we were impressed with IDC’s DR system on a number of levels, including its ability to produce high quality images, opportunities to improve our operational efficiencies, and a detector warranty that is not matched by any of the other system manufacturers that we considered. All of these points made it an easy decision to add the Xplorer™ DR system to our imaging department at Redmond.”

Large hospital systems are now recognizing how the Xplorer™ 1600 can meet their organizational goals. With more than 55 locations, the University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS) is recognized as one of the top 10 medical teaching institutions in the U.S. After careful consideration, UPHS selected IDC’s DR solution over competing products, CR and other options.

“We understand that large medical institutions are also looking for cost-effective solutions that deliver a positive impact on workflow needs and meet network requirements,” said Pacenta. “Although UPHS was initially interested in a CR solution, we conducted a workflow analysis, listened to their objectives and then made a recommendation and proposal that fit their needs. Working with Rick Sbordone, senior vice president of IDC, we demonstrated the many advantages of the IDC DR line over CR.”

Sbordone added, “When we have an opportunity to show the customer how IDC’s system delivers on the price-to-performance value measure, the customer quickly recognizes the other advantages of the Xplorer™ DR system, including superior image quality, reduced radiation exposure, high productivity and how the system can integrate very well in complex network environments such as the UPHS organization.”

“We selected the Xplorer™ DR system because it answered so many of our network needs and because of its outstanding price point,” said Ted Vanderlaan, UPHS’ regional administrator, division of community radiology. We were also impressed by how SourceOne and IDC quickly understood what we needed to accomplish with our investment in new DR equipment and they followed through by working closely with us every step of the way.”

“With SourceOne’s unique sales team comprised of more than 100 Sales Executives, seasoned Inside Sales Representatives and highly trained Customer Express Representatives, we are achieving the exposure and product awareness that we had hoped for,” said Stein. “The SourceOne team is truly opening new opportunities for IDC and making a significant contribution to the momentum we gained since the RSNA meeting.”
