A New Anti-Cancer Technology
Could the cure to cancer be as simple as drinking water? This is a possibility, thanks to research done by biologist Gabor Somlyai
(PRWEB) May 24, 2005 -- The Problem: "Cancer. A word that causes fear. There are many of us who have experienced it. Most of us will have to handle it somehow - sooner or later. The scientific world strikes back against this diverse group of diseases. We are one of those who are striving to find a cure." Gabor Somlyai, Ph.D.
The Potential Solution: "Could the cure to cancer be as simple as drinking water? This is a possibility, thanks to research done by biologist Gabor Somlyai..."
Development of an effective cure for cancer will be one of the most important advances in the history of humanity. After cardiovascular diseases, cancer is the second leading cause of death and cancer mortality has been escalating for decades.
Hydros, Inc. was formed in Los Angeles, California to develop a unique procedure, Deuterium Depletion, for the treatment and prevention of cancer, which was originally developed by Dr. Gabor Somlyai of Hyd, Ltd. in Budapest, Hungary.
Medical science and molecular biology have produced significant results in the past few decades. Unfortunately, high mortality of neoplastic malignancies of the lung, certain parts of the gastro-intestinal system and the brain, remain almost unchanged. In contrast, several cancer diseases diagnosed in time can be, in many cases, successfully treated with a combination of surgical, radiological and chemotherapeutical treatments. Radiation and chemotherapy, which work directly through some of the better understood pathways, usually have severe side effects, and surgery often results in permanent disfiguration to the already diseased body. It has been a major goal of cancer research to create safer and more effective drugs. Rapid progress in this area will be driven by identification of the signaling pathway of cell proliferation, by advances in molecular medicine and by the introduction of new treatment modalities.
Based on the research and development that has been conducted by HYD Ltd. since 1993, it is now evident that deuterium has a key role in cell metabolism. There is conclusive evidence that the application of deuterium depleted water" (DDW) causes a delay of cell growth in tissue culture. In animal experiments, DDW slowed down, halted or reversed the growth of tumors originating from malignant cell lines of human origin, in immunosupressed mice and spontaneous tumors of cats and dogs. In addition, the anti-cancer effect of the DDW treatment appeared to be completely safe and non-toxic when given to mice in place of regular water for several months.
In order to reveal the molecular mechanism of the anti-cancer effect of DDW, the gene expression having a key role in cancer genesis was investigated. The results show that depletion of deuterium induces changes in the expression of these genes, suggesting that the DDW can be an effective tool to intervene into the molecular mechanism leading to tumor development.
HYD Ltd., following preclinical safety and efficacy studies, initiated a Phase II double blind randomized clinical trial in Budapest, Hungary to evaluate the benefits of therapeutic deuterium depletion in human patients. The immediate objective of HYDs clinical trial was to justify the therapeutic efficacy and safety of DDW in patients with prostate cancer. The four-month clinical trial that was double-blind and placebo controlled involved 70 patients with prostate cancer in three oncology centers in Hungary. Patients received DDW as drinking water in addition to their conventional anti-cancer medication. The interim evaluation of the phase II study, showed statistically significant" benefits of DDW versus a placebo. In addition, no drug-related side-effects were observed from the usage of DDW.
Deuterium depletion is a completely original approach which inhibits the growth of cancer cells in the body and results in tumor regression. The procedure is to use a therapeutic dosage of deuterium depleted water", a novel tool of submolecular medicine, for the treatment and prevention of cancer, without devastating side effects.
Based on the toxicology and efficacy studies plus the report of the interim evaluation of the Phase II clinical study, the Hungarian Institute of Pharmacy agreed to allow patients who have not responded to conventional treatment, access to DDW. This compassionate usage has shown positive results.
Deuterium depletion opens new perspectives and options in cancer treatment and prevention, offering a completely safe and non-invasive treatment modality. Pre-clinical, Clinical and the Compassionate Usage Data includes a total of 1200 patients, indicating that deuterium depletion technology will be effective as an additional procedure in oncology. Deuterium depletion has opened a highly original and promising new approach to the prophylaxis and treatment of almost all types of cancer.
