Western Americana Blog, an Announcement
Western Americana is a new blog about writing the American West; from its culture and environment, to its people and history.
(PRWEB) May 25, 2005 -- Western Americana blog invites those who are interested in the American West to visit the blog and participate in posting items of interest about writing and reading Western America. The first post on the blog is entitled, Writing the American West as Historical Fiction." Historical fiction is becoming a very popular genre among writers and readers, but very few writers actually know what constitutes the historical fiction genre. The purpose of this short article is to offer a guideline for writing historical fiction.
Along with articles about writing western America, each week the blog will feature an article, sometimes controversial, about the different views of the American West as portrayed through literature and movies. Important is the politics that surround the writing of the West; how academic and academic presses maintain and perpetuate one ideal of western history. In the same manner, the question will be addressed, how do those who write Western fiction maintain an image of the American West that conflicts with that implied in Academic writing?
Western Americana blog will also serve as a platform to announce new books on the American West; once a week different books, fiction or non-fiction, will be featured by posting a synopsis and reviews. Western Americana blog encourages Writers of Western literature to submit information and reviews to be posted to the blog.
