Montreal, Quebec (PRWEB) May 27, 2005 -- Silanis, the leading provider of solutions that automate the business approval process, announced today that Michael Laurie, Co-Founder and Vice President, is presenting at the 2005 Annual Symposium of Business Forms Management Association (BFMA) in Orlando, Florida from May 22-26, 2005. The session titled Approvals: One Size Does Not Fit All", scheduled for Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at 3:00PM, is part of the conferences Forms Management Track.

Approvals are a critical part of every organization's operating procedures. Without it, processes will only be partially automated and will still be burdened by the inconvenience and cost of printing to paper whenever a signature is required. Capturing intent, mitigating risk through an audit trail, and controlling delegation of authority, are often the driving factors for adding electronic signatures and approvals to complete the automation of business processes.

Approvals are at the core of nearly every business process," says Michael Laurie, co-founder of Silanis. Yet, they can be an afterthought in automation planning. Regulatory requirements such as Sarbanes Oxley are driving companies to invest in workflow, document and content management and business process automation solutions, but in order to truly leverage these solutions, processes need to stay off paper and remain 100% electronic throughout. Its impossible to do this without the addition of electronic approval technology."

When organizations decide to add approvals to electronic forms, there are a number of variables that they must consider. The requirements and concerns for signing an internal form within an organization are very different from capturing a customers signature over the web on an HTML form. Internal approvals must be able to leverage existing desktop and web-based infrastructure and security standards while providing support for a multitude of document formats and environments. Approvals on consumer-facing forms must adhere to the consumer consent requirements of the E-SIGN legislation, must be easy-to-use, and require no software to be installed to ensure widespread consumer adoption.

The presentation will outline the critical success factors of adding electronic approval capabilities to both internal and external forms. Customer case studies will be presented to illustrate approval automation in different environments.
