Life Lynx is partnering with Frontgate Catalog to bring the Life Lynx Safety Key to the American public. The Safety Key is a new digital data storage device that stores identification information on your whole family, including front and profile photographs, on a key chain. The most unique feature of The
Safety Key is that it enables authorities to access this crucial information in mere seconds. And in the case of a missing child, each second counts.
The Safety Key can plug into any Windows computer with a USB port, allowing for instantaneous transmission of this information to any Internet-capable device. The Safety Key also enables the timely creation of "Missing Child" posters complete with stored descriptions and photographs. Identification cards can also be printed from the software on the key.
Software developer Eric Wilms designed the Safety Key after what he describes as the longest two minutes of his life, which occurred during a family trip to the zoo. When Wilms and his wife turned their backs for a split second, they couldnÂt locate their twin daughters. After the relief of finding them playing near a drinking fountain, Wilms realized parents need an action plan for such a situation, and the Life Lynx Safety Key was born.
Developed with input from law enforcement and missing children experts, the Life Lynx Safety Key goes beyond traditional child identification products. Because the device is carried on a key chain, important information travels
with parents at all times and can be disseminated within those crucial first
few minutes of realizing a child is missing. Furthermore, the information and photographs are easily updated so current data is always available. The key is also password protected, so that only the key owner can release the
The Life Lynx Safety Key was officially launched last fall with a Child Safety Day in Powell, Ohio. Powell Police Chief Gary Vest says instant access to a child's photograph is vital.
"In the case of a missing child, the most important piece of information to any law enforcement professional is a recent picture of that child, so we can distribute it quickly," says Chief Vest. "The Lifelynx product does just that."
According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, more than 2,000 children are reported missing in the United States
