Walk On: The Spiritual Journey of U2
The Definitive Book on the Faith of U2
(PRWEB) May 28, 2005 -- Belfast, Ireland-Its the book everyone is still talking about - the band still on everyones lips after 20 years. This version of Walk On: The Spiritual Journey of U2, begins were the original printing in 2001 left off-when Bono, U2s lead singer and most visible band member, became more outspoken about his faith and the Church than ever before while fighting AIDS in Africa through the DATA organization and quoting Psalms from the Super Bowl stage.
With new content covering the cathartic atmosphere of the post-9/11 Elevation tour and the aggressive spirituality of 2005s Vertigo tour, this revised edition of Walk On tackles the spiritual issues and questions that surround the worlds most popular rock band. Author Steve Stockman follows the band from their early days in Dublins Shalom Christian Fellowship all the way to their most recent-and most spiritually profound-album, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb.
Walk On explores the questions and controversy surrounding the deep-rooted religious themes of U2s music. It is a spiritual companion to their albums and exposes the real meaning behind many of their songs and performances. It is the definitive book on the faith of the worlds biggest rock band.

What People are Saying:
This is essential reading for anyone who ever wondered exactly how many U2 lyrics are nicked from the Bible-lots it turns out." -Irish Times
In Steve Stockman, three things converge. He is a Presbyterian pastor, which gives him a strong theological framework through which to interpret U2s comprehensive Christian vision. He is Irish-one almost has to be, to understand and explain U2 in context. And he loves contemporary music and is deeply immersed in it, as evidenced by his long-running show on BBC Radio Ulster. These elements make for an insightful book about an important band that could not have come from anyone or any place else." -Ken Heffner, director of Student Activities and director of Festival of Faith and Music, Calvin College
The freshest, most insightful (and biblically based) analysis of U2s spiritual journey. The greatest benefit of Walk On is that in the midst of his convincing argument for a still-faithful U2, Stockman provides honest-to-goodness theology-a viable, Roaring Lambs theology for a postmodern church enduring the birth pangs of a new millennium." -Dave Urbanski, Youthworker Journal.
