Rhodec International ASID Student Chapter Celebrate World Design Day With Online Symposium
Worldwide, April 27th 2005 - Students from Rhodec Internationals Interior Design program celebrated a groundbreaking event when they hosted a global online symposium on international World Design Day.
(PRWEB) May 28, 2005 -- Rhodec ASID Student Chapter members created this online symposium to bring students from other schools, educators and design professionals together, for a series of discussions on interior design topics. They logged in to chat rooms where sessions were held on everything ranging from Green Design to Designing for Demographics. Resources and materials for the discussions were obtained from the Architectural Record website, one of the symposiums sponsors.
What makes the Rhodec ASID Student Chapter so unique is that it is a virtual one so the student members face challenges that those in traditional chapters do not. There are no visiting lecturers or designers coming in to the classroom so they must be creative in devising new ways to supplement their learning experience.
The event proved an enormous success for all involved. It was an exciting, inexpensive and jetlag-free way for the students (some who were participating from India, Belgium or Mexico to name only a few locations) to 'meet and chat with interior designers from across the USA, London and Cairo. Those leading the discussions were enthusiastic in contributing their knowledge and experience to such a diverse group of students, who in turn came away with a greater understanding and appreciation on the importance of a global perspective in design education and professional practice.
