Technology Meets Faith in Digital Art Work is this the Religious Art of the Future?

(PRWEB) May 28, 2005 -- For the first time ever, an animated digital portrayal of Christ on the Cross has been created by DigiArt LLC. This moving painting with optional sound tracks creates a unique and compelling experience of Christs suffering on the cross.

The Cross is a one-hour DVD intended to be viewed like a painting. It can be left on the screen in constant display if desired. The viewer can look at the screen for a few moments or minutes, then look at it again at a later time. It can also be viewed continually like a film. The Cross changes subtly from moment to moment, recapitulating the last hour of Christ before his death and rebirth.

The Cross is an animated digital painting, and has an abstract painterly quality that induces a religious and philosophical state of meditation. The Cross features Christs last words in English and Spanish, and sound tracks recalling the sounds of nature on Golgotha, as well as a contemporary classical music track. Of course, it can also be displayed silent.

The two most popular early images of Jesus were the face of Jesus on Veronica's veil, the cloth that Veronica supposedly used to wipe Jesus' brow on the Via Crucis; and the Mandylion of Edessa, a portrait found on a cloth employed to cover the deceased that disappeared in the sack of Constantinople in 1204.

Portrayals of the crucifixion are a significant part of the history of art. From as far back as the Middle Ages, images of Christ on the cross, as manuscript illustrations, stained glass windows, frescos, paintings and sculptures of all sizes were everywhere. In fact, the crucifixion has been a favorite subject of artists for over 1500 years.

Much later films depicted this most famous of historical events. But never before has the abstract quality of a painting been combined with the dynamic energy inherent in movement for this iconographic subject matter. What appears to be an ordinary mortal is transformed into the divine in this extraordinary work of digital art. The Cross creates a holy presence wherever it is displayed.

DigiArt LLC is the sole distributor of The Cross. It is available for purchase on DigiArts website, thechristposter.com, for $22.95 plus shipping and handling. It can also be obtained by calling 877-DIGIART (877-344-4278). DigiArt has developed a fund raising program for churches. Please enquire.
