Leighton O'Connor Wins Second Place at Guild Show

Leighton O'Connor won second place at the Guild of Beverly Artists show in Beverly, Massachusetts for his nautical photography printed on canvas.

(PRWEB) May 29, 2005 -- On May 22 The Guild of Beverly Artists awarded Leighton O'Connor second place in photography for his 30 x 40 canvas print entitled "Gloucester Schooner Race." Leighton's prints on canvas are very different, without looking really closely at the brush strokes, you would swear it was an oil painting circa 1880. And the effect isnt just because he captured period boats. The steely gray-blue sky and the choppy waves make it look like a 19th century image. Printing it on canvas and giving it a gold gilded frame, OConnors latest technique, intensifies the effect.

Leighton will be showing the award winning canvas print with several others at ArtsFest Beverly on June 4th on Cabot Street in Beverly. Several of his canvas prints will also be in a show at Redbrick on Rantoul Street in Beverly, June 3rd thru June 24th. Redbrick's Gala Reception is June 3rd, 5-8 PM and their Open Studio Reception is June 4th, 11-5PM.
