Soleil Film, Inc. (Pink Sheets:SFLM) announced today that its second screening at Cannes May 20 was a standing room only success, which has led to several acquisition offers by distributors in the United States and the UK. “We had so many film buyers attend, that people were standing in the theater and some were even turned away at the door,” said James Hergott, Director/Producer. “To top it off, when the film concluded, the film buyers let out a huge applause for the film. This is really unheard of from film buyers, because most buyers will only watch the first five minutes of a movie and then leave,” he added. Buyers attending the screening came from the United States, the UK, Canada and Germany. Initial offers from distributors within Germany and the United Kingdom worth an estimated $350,000 to $700,000, as well as an initial offer for the North American market, in the form of a pay-per-view deal, worth an estimated $1 million are now being considered. Previous total estimates for the film's worldwide gross box office receipts range between $6 and $10 million. Buyers who expressed interest but could not attend, are interested in a private screening, such as Barnholtz , in association with an output agreement for Lion’s Gate. Ashley Luke, Inernational Acquisitions Representative for Fortissimo Films, the international distributor of “Super Size Me,” commented that the film was “awesome,” “mainstream,” and “commercial,” and recommended several sales agents in the U.K. Cast members of the film attended red carpet screenings and interviewed with the press, including E! Entertainment.
