New York, NY (PRWEB) May 30, 2005 -- Warrior is a fifteen-minute video documentary that is accompanied by a photography exhibition. Warrior, the video presentation, reaches into the mind and deliberately challenges the 'status-quo on what has shaped us as individuals. Warrior deals with, "The external influences that traces the human blue print since we are born, and distract us from who we truly are," says Mr. Villegas. The artist exposes various vehicles of media communication and nurture, responsible for thwarting the conception of a healthy childhood through message distortion and consequently its repercussions trickling into adulthood.
In-the-making for two years, and conceived after reading the book "The Sacred Path of the Warrior" by Chogyam Trungpa, Warrior comprises of thirty interviews that stir memory and decodes the interviewee. "Friends, people from different backgrounds and life settings, multicultural," notes Pepe on the subjects interviewed. In the video, the sepia-tone images of Tom Silverman/CEO Tommy Boy Records, Donna DCruz/celebrity DJ, Tammy Fay Bakker, Tom Johnson/entrepreneur, David Stark/florist, to name a few, are linked to some of their voices. For Pepe, all the latter are warriors without guns or weapons of mass destruction; their artillery simply consists of inner strength to unmask, know and reveal the real self underneath it all.
Collaborating with Mr. Villegas in this event are, Armen Ra, Theremin player 'par excellence, and Donna DCruz, celebrity DJ. Mr.Ra is an Armenian performer born in Tehran, Iran, known for fusing Armenian folk music with modern instrumentation, along with melodic lounge standard's and classical arias.
Ms. DCruz, founder of Rasa Music (www.rasamusic.com) will embellish the evening pairing pop culture with ancient spirituality, one of her trademarks, imbuing the space with perfect ying-yang balance. Ms. DCruz has collaborated with Dr. Deepak Chopra in an inspiring CD called "Gift of Love," where recitals by Rumi have been voiced through Madonna, Demi Moore, Rosa Parks and Goldie Hawn.
