Semi-Pro Football League Commissioners To Meet In Chicago To Finalize The Details Of The 2005 Afa National Tournament Of Champions"

(PRWEB) May 31, 2005 -- Planning on winning your league championship this year? Want a shot at advancing to the AFA National Championship Game? Would you like to see your players and coaches names engraved on the 25-year-old Arkush Cup along with the other 1277 names from former AFA National Championship Teams?

If the answer to those questions is . . . yes, then you want to make sure your league commissioner or his representative is in attendance at this years AFA semi-pro football 'Convention/Seminar/Trade Show in Chicago on Saturday, June 4th.

Many semi-pro leagues have already committed to having their commissioners and/or representatives on hand for the important AFA National Tournament of Champions meeting. Regional tournament directors will meet on Friday June 3rd at the Oakbrook Terrace (Illinois) Hilton Suites Hotel to determine the 2005 AFA 'Nationals playoff format. Several leagues have already formed playoff alliances" with neighboring leagues in order to advance their league champion toward an appearance in the 2005 AFA National title game.

League commissioners and/or league representatives from the following leagues have already committed to attending the AFA meetings in Chicago: Mid-Continental League; Mason/Dixon League; Empire League; Eastern League; Mid-States League; Mid-West League; Mid-America League; Southern States League; United Football League; Southern League; Ironman League; Golden States League; California Football Association; Texas United League and the Ultimate Football League. So far more than 250 semi-pro teams are expected to have representation at the Chicago AFA convention meetings on Saturday, June 4th.

AFA Regional Tournament Directors will be selected prior to the commissioners meeting. The name of the 2005 AFA National Tournament Director is expected to be announced soon.

The National Tournament of Champions (AFA 'Nationals) is expected to kick off with the first set of regional playoff games taking place in late October or early November. The site of the 26th AFA National Championship Game will be announced during the AFA Hall of Fame Induction Dinner on June 4th, in Chicago and is expected to take place in mid-January in a warm weather location.

Commissioners or league presidents from leagues not mentioned above should contact the AFA national office at 941-833-3510 or via e-mail at
amerfoot@aol.com if they would like to be part of the AFAs 2005 National Tournament of Champions meeting. Admission to the Convention/Seminar/Trade Show is free to all interested in helping the AFA promote the awareness of semi-pro football on the national level.

Representatives from a few of the womens football leagues across the country are expected to attend the Chicago meetings to petition the AFA National Tournament Committee to help sponsor a National Championship tournament for the winners of their various womens leagues.

While in the Windy City for the convention why not make plans to attend the AFAs 25th Annual Semi-Pro Football Hall of Fame Dinner - also at the Oakbrook Terrace Hilton Suites/Drury Lane Convention Center on June 4th. Tickets for the HOF banquet are $50 each and must be purchased in advance by May 31st. For more information please contact the AFA national office at 941-388-3510 or via e-mail at amerfoot@aol.com. Dress code for the induction dinner is dressy casual (sport coats, collared shirts and slacks for the men) - and the ladies always know how to dress for the occasion. Cocktail reception starts at 6 PM with dinner served at 7 PM.

With the enshrinement of this years 'Class of 2005" the AFA will have inducted exactly 500 deserving footballers into its brotherhood of Semi-Pro Football 'Legends. Plan to attend and help us honor their many semi-pro football accomplishments.
