(PRWEB) June 2, 2005 --As the 2005 hurricane season officially gets underway this week, award-winning extreme weather photographer Jim Reed invites photo editors, reporters and the pubic to visit his newly created website -- www.jimreedstock.com The website features more than 100 images from 14 hurricanes. What makes Reeds photographs different than most other storm imagery is his location at the time the photos were shot. Reed, a professional storm chaser, was in the eye of all five 2004 land-falling tropical cyclones.

Search the site and youll quickly get a sense of what its like to be inside a major hurricane. Reeds pictures capture the full fury of natures explosive power, along with swirling debris, flying roofs and storm surge as it destroys a highway.

www.jimreedstock.com is also filled with useful information including names of hurricanes, dates each occurred and locations impacted. The website offers easy navigation, on-line searching and light boxes. Visitors can even send complimentary postcards to friends and family.

Reed, who shoots for National Geographic Magazine and the National Weather Service, has documented 14 hurricanes since 1996. A 15-year storm chasing veteran, Reed, 44, has endured a career-full of wild weather, witnessing sides of natures fury and destructive aftermath most people only see in the movies.

With experts forecasting 15 named storms during the 2005 season, Reed urges everyone to prepare early.

Reed has won several awards for his weather images including Pictures of the Year International and NPPA Best of Photojournalism.

Courtesy photos are available for the media upon request. Reed is also available for commenting on the 2005 hurricane season. His personal portfolio can be viewed at: www.jimreedphoto.com
