Christine Todd Whitman reveals what it is really like walking the halls of power in Washington D.C. and the statehouse to host Ember Reichgott Junge on ÂWomen on the Move.Â
Ms. Whitman was born Christine Todd, in New York City. She was elected the first female governor of the State of New Jersey and served from 1994 until her resignation in 2001. She was considered as a running mate for then-presidential candidate George W. Bush in July 2000. Although she did not become Bush's running mate, she was later appointed by the president as the Administrator of the United States Environmental Protection Agency from January of 2001 until June of 2003.
In early 2005, she released a book entitled It's My Party Too, in which she parts ways with some policies of the Bush administration and its electoral strategy, which she views as divisive. Some analysts suggest this may be a prelude to a candidacy for president in 2008 as a moderate Republican. Could Christine Todd Whitman be a future presidential contender?
