TAGSYS (http://www.tagsys.net), the global leader in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags and reading systems for 13.56 MHz item-level tracking and authentication, announced today that the company has completed critical compatibility testing between TAGSYS’ MEDIO™ L100 and L200 RFID readers and STMicroelectronics’ LRI chip based labels. The interoperability between the products has been validated under the ISO 18000 standard’s defined criteria.

The TAGSYS MEDIO L100 and L200 readers are multi-protocol, multi-channel long range RFID readers with read and write capabilities. TAGSYS’ readers are based on the company’s RAS (Reliability, Accuracy and Security) design and production philosophy that ensures 100% readability of HF tags. STMicroelectronics’ LRI contactless memory chips (LRI512 and LRI64) operate at the HF industry standard frequency of 13.56MHz and comply to ISO15693 and ISO18000-3 standards. Smart labels based on the LRI chips in operation with MEDIO L100 or L200 readers can be read up to 1m from the reader.

"Establishing reliable standards and unrestricted interoperability are vital components to providing the market with end-to-end item-level RFID solutions that will transform the way supply chains are managed," said Elie Simon, CEO of TAGSYS. "Our strategy of ensuring interoperability with best-of-breed manufacturers, like STMicroelectronics, enables us to ensure that we deliver leading edge solutions to our customers around the world."

“As the RFID market grows and evolves, customers demand assurance that the products and technologies they invest in meet the highest standards of quality and interoperability,” said Francis Dell’ova, RFID Business Unit Manager of STMicroelectronics. “With TAGSYS’ worldwide presence in vertical market sectors and successful track record in customer satisfaction, we’re confident that compatibility between the MEDIO L100 and L200 readers and the LRI chips will further push the boundaries of RFID market deployment.”

With compatibility pre-tested and certified by Tagsys and STMicroelectronics, customers can readily deploy both TAGSYS’ end-to-end item-level RFID solutions using STMicroelectronics’ chip in the field with certainty that the systems will interoperate. The products will be used for item-level tagging in such sectors as logistics, pharmaceuticals, fashion apparel, textile care and libraries.
