Jannie and Kobus Baard Control Five (5) Tanks with ZYNX

Minimum-till farmers Jannie Baard (left) and Kobus Baard (right) control five (5) tanks with their ZYNX controller thanks to the new MINI ECU developed by KEE Technologies.

South Africa, (PRWEB) June 3, 2005 -- Jannie and Kobus are near the towns Swellendam and Heidelberg in the Western Cape of South Africa, a winter rainfall area similar to the wheat-belt in Western and Southern Australia.

Planting crops like wheat, barley, oats, canola, and lucerne and also breeding ostriches, the Baards use a DBS Multistream Airseeder built by Agri-Phyto in Albertinia under license from AUSPLOW, a Western Australian manufacturer of high-precision seeding equipment.

The five tank airseeder has 4 x 2000 litre tanks and 1 x 280 litre tank. The first two tanks are dedicated to dry fertilizer or seed, the third tank can be swapped between dry and liquid fertilizer, the fourth tank is dedicated for chemical spraying and the fifth tank is for fine seeds.

The ZYNX Precision Agriculture system controls the five tanks simultaneously with Variable Rate Control while also doing guidance, going round and round most of the time. Guidance is very important to Jannie and Kobus Baard to prevent double seeding and missed areas and also enabling them to work in the thick mist they experience in the Western Cape. The interactive color coverage and prescription maps on the ZYNX showing the applied area is a great feature especially in low visibility conditions.

Graeme Kennelly, KEEs International Marketing Manager said, Jannie and Kobus really find the fifth tank enhances their flexibility in planting. Like many other farmers and contract planters and applicators around the world our customers are often confronted with different situations on each farm or from field-to-field or even in different planting rotations. Jannie and Kobus also find the ZYNX to be very user friendly and easy-to-use. They also use the ZYNX to automatically log the application data, maps and details of each job enabling recording of the precision application of seed, fertilizer and chemicals."
