Fort Gordon, GA (PRWEB) June 4, 2005 -- With the launch of the United for Freedom" campaign, Americas gospel music community has come together to support U.S. military troops deployed in war zones, particularly armed forces stationed in the Middle East. Eighteen award-winning singers, choirs and their respective record labels have partnered for the United for Freedom" campaign which includes two CD compilations entitled United for Freedom" and Songs of Triumph."

In June 2005, more than 6,000 copies of the two CD compilations will be distributed free to troops deployed in Iraq and other war zones through military in-process centers. The compilation CDs will not be available for purchase by the general public.

Artists and choirs lending their musical talents to the United for Freedom" campaign include Men of Standard, Luther Barnes, Dottie Peoples, the Rev. Timothy Wright, Kevin McFadden & Redeemed, James Bignon & Deliverance Mass Choir, Commissioned, Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, Hezekiah Walker & The Love Fellowship Crusade Choir, Fred Hammond & Radical For Christ, Virtue, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, John P. Kee & The New Life Community Choir, Maurette Brown Clark, Joann Rosario, Sounds of Blackness, Melba Moore and jazz recording artist Bob Baldwin.

Voices of Faith gospel choir of Faith Community Gospel Chapel is also featured on the compilation. The choir was formed 16 years ago at Fort Gordons Chapel 10, which was later renamed Faith Community Gospel Chapel. Voices of Faith is primarily made up of active duty soldiers, dependents and Department of Defense civilian personnel. The main purpose of the Voices of Faith choir is to provide ministry through music to the Fort Gordon and Central Savannah River Area communities.

United for Freedom" brings together some of todays most successful gospel artists and top jazz musicians for a special project that is meant to encourage our soldiers who are representing the United States overseas in these challenging times," said Chaplain Garry Kerr of the United States Chaplain Corps at Fort Gordon. Chaplain Kerr is spearheading the United for Freedom" campaign through Faith Community Gospel Chapel. Faith Community Gospel Chapel provides comprehensive pastoral care and unit based religious support for soldiers and their families. Our deployed troops are facing many uncertainties each and every day. The musical contributions of these gospel artists are sure to inspire and motivate the troops to reach a higher spiritual consciousness and help to maintain and restore their inner peace," added Chaplain Kerr.

A selection of songs on the CDs include Donnie McClurkins Victory Chant"; James Bignon & Deliverance Mass Choirs Put Everything In Gods Hands"; Dottie Peoples God Can & God Will"; Yolanda Adams Through The Storm"; Fred Hammond & Radical For Christs No Weapon"; Bob Baldwins God Bless America"; Melba Moores Lift Every Voice and Sing"; and Men of Standards A Soldiers Heart."

The inspiration for writing Soldiers Heart" came during a time when we had so many of our [U.S.] young men and women overseas fighting for world peace and freedom," said Isaac Carree, a member of Men of Standard. I think that its very important to express gratitude. This is Men of Standards own way of speaking for the country by saying two things . . . thanks and 'were praying for you constantly. Its our wish that our troops feel the support, and more importantly, that they know that our prayers and thoughts are with them on a daily basis while they are on foreign soil."

Dottie Peoples said, "I want to do whatever I can to encourage those young men and women and pray that our babies, all of them, will soon be back with us."
