2005 Keene Karaoke Idol Auditions Held June 25 in Keene, NH

Will Marissa McTaggart of Halifax, Vermont reclaim her place once again this year as Grand Prize Winner of Keene Karaoke IDOL? The second annual competition, a fundraiser to benefit AIDS Services for the Monadnock Region, will be held at the Moose Lodge, Park Avenue in Keene, NH. Adults ages 18+ are invited to participate. Unlike last year, there will be no grouping of contestants by age. All participants will advance through elimination rounds based solely on talent.

Host Emcee for the event is Jeff Stout. Music will be provided by Ron & Mary’s DJ & Karaoke, and contestants may provide their own karaoke CD or choose from Ron & Mary’s extensive song library. Members of the Judging Panel will be consistent week to week and include Chuck Perry, a 2004 IDOL finalist; Rob Maggart, owner of Sheer Genuis Salon; Ted McGreer, owner of Ted’s Shoe & Sport; Amanda Warman, local performer and Director of KSC Campus Safety; and Ian Wilson, owner of Cheshire Music and performer in the Tom Foolery Band. Auditions only will be held on Saturday, June 25, beginning at 10am sharp. Pre-registration is urged through noon on June 24th. Payment of the $35 registration fee includes the chance to audition and choice of tee-shirt or tote bag. Registration fee can be paid over the phone with VISA or Master Card by calling 603-357-6855.

Contestants who have completed the pre-registration process will audition in alphabetical order. Those who register after noon on June 24 will join the end of the line. Contestants will be narrowed to 25 finalists who will advance to the elimination rounds. Audience members may attend the June 25 auditions at a cost of $10/person to view the contestant pool, but voting will not occur.

Elimination rounds will commence on July 15, 22 & 29. As last year, audience members may choose to vote nightly toward the 1st- 3rd place winners. These votes will also be compiled exclusively for the new Audience Favorite Award. The IDOL Finale will occur on Friday, August 5 with a Grand Prize of $1000 cash.

Corporate sponsors are still being accepted and include A Symphony of Flowers, Cheshire Music, KeeneOnline, Murphy’s Auto Body, Stan’s Discount Grocers, Ted’s Shoe and Sport, The Keene Sentinel and The Monadnock Radio Group. Doors open nightly at 6:30pm; show begins at 7pm. Admission $10/person; tables can be reserved if paid in advance. Master Card and VISA now accepted by calling 603-357-6855. Seating limited to first 200 patrons. Tickets $15 at the door, if available. Bring your own picnic; all beverages sold through the Lodge’s cash bar.

Minors must be accompanied by an adult. AIDS Services for the Monadnock Region is a United Way Agency.
