Atlassian Announces JIRA 3.2 – The Professional Issue Tracker

Atlassian Software Systems today announced the release of JIRA 3.2, the latest release of the professional issue tracking application. JIRA 3.2 introduces highly anticipated features such as fully customisable tabbed field screens, contextual custom fields, improved bulk editing, support for multiple Subversion repositories, dramatically improved performance and much more. Sydney, Australia - June 9, 2005 - Atlassian Software Systems today announced the release of JIRA 3.2, the latest release of the professional issue tracking application. JIRA 3.2 introduces highly anticipated features such as fully customisable tabbed field screens, contextual custom fields, improved bulk editing, support for multiple Subversion repositories, dramatically improved performance and much more.

Although tracking and managing the issues, tasks, bugs and change requests that emerge during a project is a critically important task, it is one that few teams do effectively. JIRA is a web-based issue tracking application that helps organisations take the philosophy of project management deeper into the organisation by providing an accessible, agile platform that is highly usable by both technical and business users alike. In JIRA 3.2, flexible new workflow transition screens expand on the workflow system introduced in JIRA 3.0. The screens allow users to configure exactly where and when they want particular fields to appear, thus allowing them to more closely map internal business processes to JIRA's workflows. Beyond this, the scope and flexibility of the individual fields themselves has been expanded allowing cross project fields and greater customisation through the built-in plugin system.

Utilising the Lucene search engine and some smart development, some of the notable performance enhancements include: issue searching, browsing projects, statistical reporting, portlet rendering, importing, indexing and backup restorations."

For software developers, JIRA's source configuration management support has been extended. JIRA's Subversion plugin now supports multiple repositories, allowing users to map multiple JIRA projects to multiple Subversion repositories. JIRA's ability to handle very large CVS repositories has also been improved, and the Perforce plugin has reached version 1.0.

This release brings new portlets, additional bulk operations, keyboard shortcuts, email address obfuscation, a faster more capable quick search capability, improved excel viewing, improved from addressing for email notifications, Java 5.0 compatibility and much more.
