net-progress have been short-listed in the Membership Category (Websites) of the RNIB Simply the Best Awards 2005.
(PRWEB) June 9, 2005 -- The RNIB set up the Simply the best awards to recognise companies and organisations that have made a significant contribution to improving accessibility for adults and children with sight problems.
net-progress, as a part of their social responsibility programme, have created www.net-guide.co.uk, a search engine and directory that is not just accessible, but rates the websites listed for accessibility, thus giving users an idea of the user experience that the site offers before visiting it.
Additionally, net-progress have worked with Tom Brake MP, who tabled an Early Day Motion, calling for greater levels of website accessibility. Subsequent lobbying from net-progress, the RNIB and the general public resulted in greater awareness of the issues amongst MPs. Several have pledged to improve accessibility on their own websites. More than 50 MPs supported the Early Day Motion.
Speaking on behalf of net-progress, Paul Crichton said, We are all delighted to have been short-listed for the Award. We have tried to make a difference and to have that effort recognised by being short-listed is a fantastic bonus for the team."
