Two leaders in multimedia for K-12 schools Â? Rauland-Borg and Films Media Group Â? are introducing a selection of 100 educational videos free of charge for up to six months with the purchase of Rauland's DESS (Digital Education Streaming Solution) streaming video server.

Rauland-Borg, the leader in communication and media management solutions for K-12 schools, announced today that it has partnered with Films Media Group (FMG) to provide thousands of high-quality videos for use with its Telecenter CPS (Curriculum and Presentation Systems) and Rauland DESS (Digital Education Streaming Solution) systems.

Rauland will include a free trial period of the Films Media Group School Curriculum Libraries, 100 carefully selected titles from the FMG digital collection, with the purchase of its Telecenter CPS and DESS systems. The libraries consist of 20 programs each in the subject areas of language arts, social studies, science, mathematics, and electives and will be pre-loaded in Telecenter CPS and DESS systems. Schools and districts will be licensed to use the content at no charge for up to six months. At the end of the trial period, desired content can be acquired directly from FMG under a variety of lease and purchase options.

“The impact of engaging multimedia content can’t be underestimated in the pursuit of higher levels of student academic achievement”, stated Ken McQuillen, Product Manager for Rauland-Borg Media Systems. “Teachers can be overwhelmed with the sheer volume of content to be covered as part of the curriculum. Because the brain processes pictures and images 60,000 times faster than words alone, visual instruction helps teachers cover more curriculum in less time. FMG’s range, breadth and quality of video content make them an ideal partner for delivering educational videos to improve student achievement.”

Based in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, Films Media Group is the leading provider of high-quality educational video and multimedia content for schools, colleges, libraries, and other institutions. Representing the world’s premier producers, FMG offers more than 12,000 titles through its four brands: Films for the Humanities & Sciences, Cambridge Educational, Meridian Education and Shopware.

“Our partnership with Rauland-Borg is a rewarding opportunity all around, “ remarked Doug Humphrey, Vice President of Business Development at Films Media Group. “For one thing, it makes the purchase of the Rauland-Borg systems more attractive to schools and colleges. It also puts great content in the hands of educators and enables them to see firsthand the value of our collection, at no initial cost to them. Finally, it allows us to reach the people we want to help—students and teachers—in ways that meet the rigorous standards of 21st century high-tech learning.”

Telecenter CPS is a centralized multimedia management system that enhances education and student achievement by delivering educational videos/programming to the classroom or individual learner. CPS is a single, easy-to-use portal for teachers, integrating existing media libraries (DVD, VHS, and LaserDisc) with streaming videos (digital video files) into a single unified system. Video content can be delivered over an in-house RF network to televisions/projectors and/or streamed over the district or school data network to PC or Mac classroom workstations. The DESS (Digital Education Streaming Solution) is a digital-only streaming video system with browser-based searching and control. With the DESS system videos can be streamed over the district or school data network to PC or Mac classroom workstations.

Rauland-Borg has been a leader in school communications systems since the 1930s and in multimedia systems for K-12 facilities for more than 15 years. Today, Rauland-Borg continues to deliver the best in state-of-the-art communications technology to school systems around the country.
