Radionet Launches Wi-Fi Access Point for Outdoor Applications

New RN-610 brings high reliability and advanced security features to outdoor corporate and hotspot WLAN networks

Helsinki, Finland (PRWEB) June 10, 2005 -- Radionet Ltd, a leading supplier of Wireless Hotzone technology, today announced the new Wi-Fi compliant RN-610 wireless base station for outdoor WLAN networks. With its weather resistant design, high security and a selection of antennas, the product is ideally suited for building outdoor corporate and Hotspot networks. The product extends Radionets product line with a first standalone product that is based on a bridging architecture.

As a stand-alone product, the RN-610 that doesnt require any additional control hardware and it offers standards-based interfaces to different authentication and accounting systems. The product is based on a bridging architecture, best suited for corporate and Hotspot networks, whereas Radionets current product line is based on the routed topology, which is best suited for large-scale Hotzone networks. The product is compliant with the Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g standards and offers connection speed of up to 54 Mbps.

The RN-610E builds on Radionets experiences from citywide wireless Hotzone networks and is designed to endure harsh conditions in outdoor use such as moisture and freezing temperatures.

The product features the same reliability as Radionets wireless Hotzone equipment, which has proven its durability in the harsh winters in Finland and several port environments, where moisture and salt are primary concerns. The product extends our portfolio with a bridging architecture, which is popular in many corporate and Wi-Fi Hotspot networks. The new product can be used as an extension of a WiFi Hotzone solution, as a WLAN access point in a Wi-Fi compatible hotspot or as an outdoor extension in an enterprise network." said Radionets VP of Sales and Marketing Markus Björkqvist.

The product offers the highest level of security for sensitive corporate networks and supports advanced security and authentication features such as VPA , VPA 2 and RADIUS.
