French Media Steal Lead in the Olympic Race
The French media are giving almost double the exposure to Paris's bid to host the 2012 Olympics that the UK press are giving to London's bid, says research.
(PRWEB) June 11, 2005 -- The past month has been a fascinating period in the lead up to announcement of who will host the 2012 Olympics. Earlier this week the IOC inspectors reported on the technical prospects for the 5 candidate cities, underlining the commonly felt view that the race is essentially between London and Paris.
Over the past month (up to the 8th June) 1.5% of French press articles sourced by Media Evaluation Research from the key French press and online sources featured the Olympics, compared to 0.9% of UK press and online sources.
A follow-up search of the past weeks media has illustrated that the gap has closed, somewhat but with the French still ahead. One of the key findings by the Olympic inspectors was that the French people are more in favour of the Olympic bid than people in the UK.
Media Evaluation Research sources and analyses media exposure and is launching the Quant.Observer. This research tool can undertake quantitative media research of almost 10,000 global media sources including The Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times.
In addition their Media Observer reporting system produces both quantitative and qualitative media content and message analysis for organisations eager to know more about the value of their media assets.
