New Directed SoundÂ? system launched by Urban Retail Properties Co. at the ICSC Leasing Convention May 22-25 in Las Vegas

CyberMedia and Urban Retail Properties Co. introduced a new sound system with the ability to deliver audio messaging in a narrow, focused beam at the International Council of Shopping Centers Spring Convention, May 22 – 25, in Las Vegas, NV. CyberMedia’s Directed Sound™ system was showcased in Urban’s 10,000 square foot booth.

CyberMedia’s systems deliver audio messages in a targeted area that cut through existing ambient noise without adding to the noise level, thus creating an audio footprint. Thin, disc-shaped transducers send ultrasonic sound in a narrow beam. Shoppers inside the audio footprint hear the message; shoppers outside the beam do not. The revolutionary technology offers increased branding and revenue opportunities for mall owners and provides retailers with a powerful new way to increase sales. The company’s Directed Sound™ systems utilize sound delivery technology, the audiospotlight®, under an exclusive license from Holosonic Research Labs, Inc.

Shopping center owners can send directed messages to shoppers in specific areas such as displays, promotional areas, children’s play areas and customer service centers. CyberMedia’s Directed Sound™ system provides a complete package of all that is required for the user to be able to deliver directed audio content to shoppers. This includes content creation and delivery, software to allow for receipt of content over the internet, and the ultrasonic audio equipment which creates the audio footprint. Although clients can choose to run their own audio content through the system, CyberMedia also delivers customized content. Retailers and shopping centers tell CyberMedia what they want to accomplish, and the creative arm of the company takes over to efficiently provide the appropriate audio message.
