Singer/Songwriter Rod MacDonald's New CD "A Tale of Two Americas" (Wind River Records) is the "Real Deal"

Like a fine wine, veteran career artist Rod MacDonald just keeps getting better. His latest release, "A Tale of Two Americas", reaffirms that he remains among the elite of singer/songwriters of modern folk music performing in North America today.

(PRWEB) June 11, 2005 -- Rod MacDonald has been an active and vital force on the international folk music landscape since the Greenwich Village days of the 70s-80s which marked the beginning of his music career. Influenced by the songwriting of Bob Dylan, Richard Farina, and Phil Ochs, and Tom Rush's guitar playing, Rod became well known for his willingness to take chances and get political, showcased in his eclectic brand of music, which earned him the recognition of being one of the most popular singer/songwriters in New York and beyond.

Drawing on his background of journalism and law, and distinguishing himself with his unique blend of journalistically insightful lyrics, poetic imagery and musical versatility, he continues to develop a powerful body of works with songs that document our times and "hit all the right emotional notes".

Seamlessly weaving standout romantic ballads in between his trademark humorously satirical and sometimes reckless, politically-charged commentaries, there is no mistaking Rod's dedication to his music. Often entwining a fine thread of spirituality into his more serious topics, Rod's music embraces his obvious passion and personal commitment to documenting and communicating political and social events that often shape our world's societies. "MacDonald approaches the genre differently from most contemporary singer-songwriters. His 'protest' songs are narratives that invite you to draw your own conclusions...(he) takes listeners on previously untrod paths in his unique stories." (Sing Out! Fall 2003).

In "A Tale of Two Americas", (Brambus Records-Europe) which presents 18 acoustic-based and well-crafted songs, Rod clearly is "the real deal". Some of the songs are ripped right out of today's news, some present a sophisticated analysis of events and trends, some are classics never before recorded, and some are quite beautiful in their simplicity; and all are compelling.

The entire CD was recorded in four late night sessions, and has a warm, intimate sound centered on Rod's acoustic guitar and rich, multi-faceted tenor voice. "A Tale of Two Americas" is a CD of real...as opposed to fake....family values....and meaningful and substantial songwriting.
