Intercourse PA Book to be Released This Summer

A book on Intercourse, PA, and other local towns, will be released this summer. Historical and pictoral in nature, this book will draw attention from those who embrace history of PA, as a building block for the nation.

(PRWEB) June 11, 2005 -- Author, Michele M. Paiva, is proud to announce the soon to be released "Intercourse, Paradise, Salisbury and Leacock" historical book by Arcadia Publishing.

"The area is heavily visited by people not only across the United States, but attracts international travelers as well," said Paiva of the region.

"It's attraction is unique. Unlike many area's which may boast only shopping or a beach, this area shares many extraneous qualities such as history, nature, cultures, shopping, tours and of course, unique names for towns which are as creative as their historical beginnings," she explained.

The photographs are extremely crisp considering many of them are from the 1920's. The detail in the photographs are so contrasting that you almost feel you are peering through a window, a window of history.

"I had a great time collecting photographs and stories of the area. The people of the area were so helpful. I can't thank enough the Cocalico Historical Society also. They were instrumental in this endeavor, and true professionals. Additionally, the Pequea Valley Library was another cherished working relationship. The library has been a steadfast participant in the growth and historical preservation of the the community, and a portion of all proceeds will go to them as long as the book is in print. It was the least I could do for their support of not only this project, but this community"

What does Paiva hope for?
"More than anything, I want those who are local to understand that they are respected and cherished for their contributions. Additionally, I am hoping that as tourists pass through the region, that the book helps them to respect and embrace the land and people of the region. It's all about a spiritual respect," remarked Paiva. What is next for Paiva? She hopes a book on the Mummers.

"The Mummers were such a part of my families tradition. They still are. Living in Pennsylvania, there is a hometown pride to being the place the Mummers strut. I want to show the world that the Mummers are a historical cultural icon, an entertainment venue, a close-knit quilt of persons and most of all, to celebrate the individuals from the past and the present, to make way for the future. To help keep the Mummers alive, even the memories of the past Mummers" she said.

Paiva is available for interview, book signings and comments/questions.

Paiva, a National Legal Advocate, is a member of the American Bar Association, The American Trial Lawyers Association, a former Broadcast Journalist and Anchor, a myoskeletal therapist and yoga therapist, and currently enjoys writing both books and her columns, "The Healthy Advocate" and "Public Relation Propagation."
