Comcourse LMS Learning Bridge First to Support New Mac OS X Tiger and Firefox
Comcourse has achieved another technological breakthrough and become the first LMS provider to bridge the world of Windows and Apple. They can now provide their LMS on Windows and the new Mac OS X Tiger platform through the Firefox browser.
(PRWEB) June 14, 2005 -- Comcourse Corporation announced today that it has expanded the functionality of their LMS program, The Learning Bridge, to fully support the new Mac OS X Tiger. All functions, including the WYSIWYG editor, work inside a Firefox browser.
The Learning Bridge is one of the first learning management systems in the industry to support the Mac OS X Tiger. The Learning Bridge has rapidly been gaining popularity in the Higher Education market as a less expensive and better alternative to other programs. This breakthrough will solidify its technological lead.
James Chellis, CEO, said Macs are well-loved by many in education yet were ignored by many LMS vendors. Many instructors prefer to design course content inside an LMS using the Mac platform." He added," With full support for the LMS editor, we are now able to offer functionality which other leading learning management systems cannot deliver."
Matthew Sheltz, Comcourse CTO added, The Comcourse Learning Bridge is a next generation program which offers a major upgrade for most schools. We provide a fully hosted solution in two of the best datacenters in the world, with incredibly fast no-cost customization, 24x7x365 coverage and support, and 99.99% uptime. Plus we migrate courses hosted by other vendors for free." Mr. Sheltz added We also offer really useful built-in features that no one else has, and if we see something new, or one of our customers makes a request, we can usually add the function within days or weeks, again for no cost. This represents a tremendous benefit, and savings in time and money to the schools."
A teacher at one of the schools that works with Comcourse said I was unable to design courses on our previous LMS because I'm a Mac addict and didnt want to hand code HTML." He added This new editor from Comcourse allows me to build courses, as well as use all the cool online tools they provide. Its a huge step forward for Mac users."
The Comcourse Learning Bridge is available today for both Windows and Mac clients. For schools which currently use an old LMS, Comcourse will migrate and setup the courses at no charge.
