The Merger of Two Major Asphalt Trade Associations is Announced

June 8, 2005 Michigan Asphalt Paving Association and Michigan Pavement Association approved a merger of the two organizations to form Asphalt Pavement Association of Michigan (APAM).

(PRWEB) June 11, 2005 -- The merger of two major asphalt trade associations was approved yesterday in Lansing. The Boards of Directors of the Michigan Asphalt Paving Association (MAPA) and the Michigan Pavement Association (MPA) have approved the merger of their respective organizations to form the Asphalt Pavement Association Of Michigan (APAM).

The leadership of the two associations have been exploring the possibility of combining their organizations for several months. Staffing details are still being finalized.

Organized in 1950, MAPAs fifty-eight members included Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) producers and paving contractors and related industry materials, equipment and service providers. MPA was founded in 2000 and its thirteen members were located throughout the state.

The Officers and Directors of the Asphalt Pavement Association Of Michigan were elected as follows:

President -- Keith Rose - Rieth-Riley Construction Co., Inc.
Vice President -- Jim Klett - Michigan Paving & Materials Co.
Secretary/Treasurer - Fred Hillard, Ajax Paving Industries, Inc.

Directors At Large:   
Vance Johnson, Central Asphalt, Inc.
Mike Catenacci, John Carlo, Inc.
Andy Schmidt, Edw. C. Levy Co.
Donald Rosenbarger, Barrett Paving Materials, Inc.
Russell Broad, Elmers Crane & Dozer, Inc.

Both MPA and MAPA have shared a common goal of providing the highest quality paving materials to our customers," said APAM President Keith Rose. This merger has created a strong and focused association that will provide effective representation of Michigans Hot Mix Asphalt Industry."

The producer members of APAM are responsible for the vast majority of the Hot Mix Asphalt used to build and maintain Michigans roads, streets and parking facilities.
