Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) June 12, 2005 -- The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has announced that it will temporarily shift northbound US 1/64 traffic Saturday, June 11th at 8 p.m. to the outside temporary lanes. The new pattern will affect northbound motorists between the Tryon Road and Cary Parkway exits and will allow for work to be completed in the median. This pattern will be in place until October 2005.
Throughout construction, lane closures on US 1/64 will take place between 9 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. on weekends.
The US 1/64 widening project is a $58 million project, that is anticipated to be completed in late 2006 and will improve US 1/64 from south of the I-40 interchange to the U.S. 1/64/Tryon Road interchange in Cary.
The NCDOT reminds motorists to stay alert in the US 1/64 work zone, obey the posted speed limit of 55 mph, be aware of construction workers and watch signs for construction information. The fine for speeding in the work zone is $250 and three driver license points.
