(PRWEB) June 13, 2005 -- If you are interested in music, art, drama, teaching, literature, math, physics, programming, business, science or engineering, you may find something fun and educational at Wake Technical Community Colleges digital game expo on Friday and Saturday, June 24 and 25.

The general public is welcome to take advantage of classes at the expo, comparable to those at the annual Game Developers Conference (GDC) in California. Event organizer Water Rotenberry, a programming instructor at the college, says: Wake Tech is hosting a conference similar to the GDC. It includes tutorials, keynote speakers and classes that cost only $60 for two days and has many of the same speakers as the five-day GDC that can costs $1,750." Rotenberry is hoping more people will take advantage of this exceptional opportunity.

A sampling of classes includes a visual arts track with an introduction to Maya and illustration for gamers, a programming track that includes music technologys application to gaming, an academic track with a class on respecting character and story in video games, a track on Unreal programming, a business and legal track that includes a class on protecting intellectual property and a live action role play track. Instructors include Tim Sweeney, founder of Epic Games, Wild Bill Stealey, CEO of iEntertainment Network and Jim Van Verth Lead Engineer, Red Storm Entertainment/Ubisoft.

The expo is free to the general public and will include varied entertainment, including Live Action Role Play, a Laser Tag Demo, a Game Center, book signings and about 40 companies exhibiting their digital game products. Visit www.dgxpo.com for more information.
