JBI Localization Completes Translation/Dubbing of Colgate Oral Health Educational Video for Children

Prominent L.A.-area language localization firm supported Colgate's global oral health care initiative with translations of entertaining educational video for Spanish/Portuguese speaking audiences. Video is now in release internationally.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 15, 2005 -- JBI Localization, Inc. a full-service San Fernando Valley translation and audio production company, has completed translation and dubbing of neutral Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese versions of Dr. Rabbit and the Legend of the Tooth Kingdom," a 15-minute educational video produced by Global Business Development, Oral Care Division of Colgate-Palmolive Company, it was announced today by JBI President Eliane Barth.

Originally produced in American English, the video is part of Colgates ongoing Bright Smiles, Bright Futures (BSBF) program, which was begun in 1997 and which has addressed the oral care needs of children in many parts of the world, including the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, China, Jamaica, Pakistan, Poland and South Africa, among others. The BSBF program reaches some 50 million children and their families each year in 30 languages and in 80 countries.

The new versions of Dr. Rabbit" will be shown to children in school programs and others throughout Spanish-speaking Latin America and Portuguese-speaking Brazil, according to Colgates Kathryn Parrish. Through cartoon characters, dialog and songs, the video tells the story of a group of children in a battle against the plaque monsters." Although constantly tempted with sweets and other distractions, the children ultimately banish the plaque monsters through the use of effective brushing and flossing.

According to Barth, the localization project involved translation of the text into audio-friendly scripts, using the services of native language speakers in both tongues as well as technical consultants familiar with both the vernacular languages and the dental care field.

With completion of the scripts, JBI cast native-speaking actors for nine different parts, performing the recording and dubbing in the companys in-house studios. A major challenge, according to Barth, was to achieve a natural sound, rhythm and look in the synchronization and dubbing of the several songs, some of which involved multiple characters. JBI also provide some Foley enhancements to the videos M&E track.

JBI Localization was recommended by the 3DBob animation house, Parrish said, and she was extremely pleased with the results obtained.

I can highly recommend JBI Localization," she said. They provide quick and efficient service while at the same time exerting every effort to meet the clients needs."

Based in Los Angeles, JBI Localization has provided a full array of localization and related services since the mid-1970s, serving such clients as Colgate-Palmolive, Disney Interactive Games, IBM, Microsoft, THQ, Xerox, and others.
