Corriente Networks Releases Elektron Enterprise Edition for Wi-Fi Security

The new RADIUS server enables the strongest security available for wireless LANs.

Berkeley, CA (PRWEB) June 14, 2005 -- Corriente Networks today announced the release and immediate availability of Elektron Enterprise Edition, the enterprise targeted version of its award-winning software for securing Wi-Fi networks. The software combines low administrative overhead with strong Wi-Fi security for businesses of all sizes.

Elektron Enterprise Edition provides RADIUS authentication services to WPA Enterprise capable wireless access points, including popular hardware from manufacturers like Apple, Linksys, D-Link, Cisco, and Netgear. WPA Enterprise is the standard specified by the Wi-Fi Alliance (http://www.wi-fi.org) for the strongest available wireless network security.

When deployed on Windows, Elektron Enterprise Edition supports user authentication via Active Directory accounts. When deployed on Mac OS X Server, Open Directory accounts may be used. Additionally, LDAP and ODBC-compliant database servers are supported for user authentication.

For networks with an existing RADIUS authentication infrastructure, Elektron Enterprise Edition can be used to extend those authentication services to the wireless LAN. Elektron Enterprise Edition can act as a responder to wireless access points, providing PEAP and EAP-TTLS services while forwarding inner authentication requests to the legacy RADIUS server.

Elektron Enterprise Edition contains support for the latest Wi-Fi security standards, including PEAP and EAP-TTLS. Elektron Enterprise Edition is compatible with the Wi-Fi client software built into Mac OS X 10.3 and later and Windows XP. No additional software is necessary for clients using either of these platforms.

In addition to the Wi-Fi protocols PEAP, LEAP, EAP-TLS, and EAP-TTLS, Elektron Enterprise Edition includes support for basic RADIUS protocols such as PAP and CHAP. With these protocols, Elektron Enterprise Edition may be used as an authenticator for devices such as VPN concentrators and firewalls, allowing system administrators to centralize authentication services.

Pricing and Availability:

Elektron Enterprise Edition is available now at a price of $749.99 for Windows 2000/XP/2003 and Mac OS X 10.2.8 or higher. It may be purchased directly through the Corriente Networks web site or through one of Corriente's value added resellers. Elektron is licensed on a per-server basis, with each server licensed for an unlimited number of clients.
