Pima Medical Institute, 1701 W. 72nd Ave. Suite 130 in Denver was the recipient of the Health Educator Award from the American Lung Association of Colorado.
The award is given to organizations or individuals who have demonstrated techniques and ability to impart health education information effecting behavioral change to improve lung health in Colorado. Pima Medical InstituteÂs Denver career college will be honored at the ALAC Annual Meeting and Volunteer Appreciation event on June 16th.

PMIÂs Denver campus was recognized by the ALA for their efforts in educating respiratory therapists. Registration to enroll in the respiratory therapy program is currently underway. Classes will begin in July for Pima Medical InstituteÂs respiratory program, which takes 81 weeks. Graduates of the 88 credit-hour Respiratory Therapy program receive an Associate of Occupational Science degree.
The Respiratory Therapy program consists of classes in medical ethics, mathematics, chemistry, physics, human anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, advanced respiratory care techniques (including neonatal and adult special care procedures), general and advanced pharmacology, cardiopulmonary disease, patient assessment and the therapeutics that are required to function at the patientÂs bedside in the hospital setting.
Respiratory Therapy is one of the fastest growing occupations according to newly released data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The Denver campus also has programs for Dental Assistant, Medical Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant, Ophthalmic Medical Technician, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy Technician, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiography Technician, Respiratory Therapy and Veterinary Assistant.
