On-demand software gives most comprehensive, flexible set of features for management of public-access Internet networks - Fast-growing Eleven has carved early niche in hospitality industry

Eleven® Wireless, a rapidly growing provider of software for managing public-access Internet networks, today announced ElevenOS™, its on-demand software solution allowing service providers and carriers to manage their customers on Wi-Fi, WiMAX and wired networks. This software is a hosted application, and has already been adopted by a number of highly regarded network service providers in the United States and Latin America. ElevenOS is currently used in hotels, convention centers, city-wide networks and enterprises.

Eleven’s early success has been driven by adoption in the hospitality industry, where providers have been impressed with the ElevenOS platform’s ability to meet the specific needs of hotel broadband. The flexible and highly differentiated solution suits hotel chains’ requirements for a common system to manage their public-access Internet networks, regardless of property location or the number of service providers involved.

“ElevenOS has given us the control we were unable to find elsewhere, helping us deliver world-class Internet access recently recognized as one of the best in hospitality,” said Andrew Furrer, director of information technology for Kimpton Hotel & Restaurants, the leading boutique hotel company. “The unique abilities of ElevenOS made this possible, and the benefits for our business and our customers were immediately visible.”

ElevenOS gives network service providers the capability to centrally manage Wi-Fi, WiMAX and wired networks with authentication, service provisioning, billing, payment, reporting and account management capabilities. The system’s rich set of features provides the advantages of unmatched control and flexibility:

• Customization and control of user experience, including branding and localized content by venue or groups of venues, including the display of distinct portal pages at each venue;

• Creation of service plans specific to each venue or common across a group, including the ability to deliver high-quality complimentary Internet access;

• Flexible end-user billing, including credit card, prepaid card and hotel billing for Internet access, as well as future products and services;

• Robust role-based access for administrators or venue staff, including the ability to limit access to certain features or data; and

• Ability to view real-time reporting on a per-location or grouped basis, including usage and revenue.

Eleven Wireless CEO Kevin Macgillivray says the company will continue to build on its early success in hospitality and begin to reach out to service providers in other industry verticals. “The overall shift to higher quality networks requires a software system that manages all aspects of these networks in order to meet ever-changing needs,” he said. “We know control and flexibility are critical pieces in effectively managing networks in hospitality. We expect this to be equally true as we broaden to other developing markets.”

According to Steven Schroedl, president of VeriLAN, a service provider who deployed the first large commercial WiMAX network, the careful selection of a software management system is crucial. “The recent wave of cities and municipalities calling us to deploy Wi-Fi and WiMAX networks is a sign of impending wide-scale adoption,” he said. “Wireless networks need to be managed, and we recommend companies use ElevenOS to best manage their networks, even if those networks are free of charge.”

Eleven has made significant strides in the past year. Macgillivray recently was appointed CEO after a successful tenure at the helm of Splash Technology (Nasdaq: SPLH), acquired by Electronics for Imaging (Nasdaq: EFII) in 2001. Eleven also closed a funding round in late 2004. Josh Friedman, Josh Blank and Andrew Yorra founded Eleven in early 2002, and bootstrapped the company with limited outside investment for the first two years of business.
