SMC Networks at the Center of 'Wireless Resort
SMCs Solutions for Hospitality-including Extended Ethernet for network access delivery over simple telephone lines to its complete Enterprise Wireless Networking solutions set-enable increased operational efficiency and open revenue opportunity
Irvine, CA (PRWEB) June 17, 2005 -- SMC Networks (www.smc.com) today announced that its TigerAccess Extended Ethernet (EE) VDSL and EliteConnect Enterprise Wireless networking solutions were selected to build a scalable wired and wireless network on the white sand beaches of Panama City Beach, Florida. The Dunes of Panama, a 332-room, five building resort condo-hotel, now has a cutting-edge wireless network provided by Gulf Coast Wireless that supplies Internet connectivity for hotel operations, condominium owners, and hotel guests. Users can now access the Internet in all locations of the resorts property.
Deep Blue Wireless, a leading provider of managed wireless high-speed Internet access to hotels, convention centers, communities, cafes and other venues, worked in conjunction with partner, Gulf Coast Wireless to design and implement the resort network. To meet the high demands of this and other hospitality networks, Deep Blue Wireless, together with SMC Networks, is able to provide a strong, reliable wireless network that benefits local venues and users alike. The overall design for the Dunes of Panama was to take a fixed wireless broadband connection and distribute it throughout the resort to wireless access points and outdoor antennas to build a network for reliable wireless Internet connectivity indoors and out.
We chose SMC because the company has a good combination of strengths high quality, robust access points, enterprise quality VDSL products and proactive customer service," explained Alan Gale, CEO, Deep Blue Wireless. Our past experience with SMC and its products gave us a very high level of confidence that they were the choice for this challenging application."
SMCs VDSL solution, comprising of SMC7724M/VSW switches, SMC7024VSP splitters and SMC7500A/VCP Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) send the signal through existing phone lines to the more than 70 SMC Enterprise wireless access points placed throughout the resort to distribute wireless connectivity. To cover some tough but critical spots, Deep Blue Wireless installed enterprise access points in the pool house providing wireless signals to two 40-room buildings. As a result, wireless connectivity is available from all 332-rooms at the Dunes of Panama Resort, as well as outdoors and poolside.
Ideally suited for MDU/MTU applications like those in resorts, cruise ships, hotels and other densely-connected networking projects, SMCs Extended Ethernet VDSL and wireless networking solutions facilitate networking that provides high bandwidth utilizing existing standard phone cabling that can be shared for traditional voice calling even while serving as the network connection.
Our Extended Ethernet VDSL and wireless networking technologies are ideally-suited for MDU applications like the Dunes of Panama Resort," said Paul Kim, CEO of SMC Networks. Were excited to have worked with our channel partner, Deep Blue Wireless, on this project, and look forward to furthering that long-standing partnership by participating in future projects with them to bring this technology to more of their customers."
SMC will be demonstrating its networking solutions for Hospitality Applications at HITEC in Los Angeles, CA, June 21-23 in booth #819.
