Opening Day for The Summit at Mount Frontenac - A Unique Opportunity to make History
Home sites atop the summit of a former historic New Hampshire Ski Area offered for the first time EVER!
Plymouth, NH (PRWEB) June 18, 2005 -- Over forty people attended the historic opening day for several new home sites at The Summit at Mount Frontenac on Saturday, June 4th presented by Northern Acres. The sites, located at the site of the retired Frontenac Ski Area, overlook the town of Plymouth and its university campus. Guests as far away as Ohio came to the event, eager to be one of the first to see, choose, and reserve their home site at this unique and historic location. Within the first three hours of the event, four home sites came under reservation, with several others currently in the reservation process.
Northern Acres president, Jim Powers, introduced The Summit at Mount Frontenac during his presentation before guests and staff and spoke of the significance of the day. This is a historic day," explained Powers. These home sites have never been offered before and until today. No one has been able to own home sites at the summit of Mount Frontenac. When you reserve your home site, you are becoming a part of history."
Positioned to the right of Powers is an enlarged picture of a postcard from the 1930s featuring the view looking down one of the trails at Frontenac Ski Area depicting skiers as they wind their way down the slope. He explains, that the lift remains of the former ski area can still be found on the property. Plans to restore some of these elements and feature them at the entrance to the property are in process.
After the presentation guests had the opportunity to walk through the property, some for the first time, to see first hand the distinct uniqueness of each home site. Local guests, familiar with the summit of the former ski area, found their favorite spot hiking spot on the mountain.
Home sites, located on the northern spur road; gaze out over Plymouth village against the backdrop of the White Mountains. From this vantage, Plymouth State Universitys clock tower at Rounds Hall is visible both by day, and night. Other sites, on the eastern and southern side, overlook the Pemigewasset River and the rolling greens of the White Mountain Country Club.
Mike and Kelly Boudreau of Weymouth, Massachusetts attended the opening day event with the hope of finding a piece of land on which to build their second home. Their long six-year search for the perfect piece of property ended on Saturday, when they eagerly reserved a site at Mount Frontenac. We have been looking really hard for about 6 years," explains Kelly Boudreau. We have looked in Stowe Vermont, Bethlehem N.H., Lake Sunapee, N.H., and several other areas. Both Mike and I knew simultaneously that this was the place. We walked most of the lots. When we walked on ours, I stood, and looked, at the view and I just knew."
The opening day for The Summit at Mount Frontenac resulted in the reservation of four home sites, with several others currently in process of commitment.

History of Frotenac Ski Area
Frontenac Ski Area was opened in the 1930s. It was one of several small ski slopes in Plymouth during the days of the snow trains" which would bring skiers from southern New England metropolitan areas up to New Hampshire ski destinations. Frontenac, and neighboring Wendys slope, were purchased and converted into the Frontenac Ski Camp, which operated until the 1990s.
