Thejobwire.com - A Unique Attempt to Bend the Economic Trend for the Rochester, New York Area

Not just another job board- TheJobWire.com seeks to unite employers, job seekers, business people, political groups, educational institutions, and the community at large.

Rochester, NY (PRWEB) June 18, 2005 -- During the dot.com boom, finding qualified individuals to fill jobs was a challenge -- especially jobs in technical fields. Over the past several years that economic trend has been radically reversed. There are now far more job candidates available than there are jobs. Yet online job recruiting tools continue to support the old trend, in defiance of the laws of supply and demand.

Lynne Perry is sympathetic towards the role of job seeker. A little over 2 years ago, she was one of the still thousands of professionals in our local workforce that are out of work, or whose skills are under-utilized by so called survival jobs". But she's also sympathetic to the current recruiting and hiring frustrations of local employers, and believes its time to balance the scales. Perry developed the web site TheJobWire.com to reflect this reality in the local job market by making it easier and less expensive for regional employers to find qualified candidates. At the same time, this model gives job seekers more exposure to employers.

The nationally known Monster.com is a perfect example for illustrating just a few of the many differences between older models and TheJobWire.com.

With other online services, job seekers contact employers for free. Because of this, many employers seek to avoid Résumé Spam (an inundation of inappropriate responses to job postings) by posting jobs only on the companys web site. TheJobWire.com discourages Résumé Spam by requiring job seekers to expend time, effort, and a modest cost in order to make appropriate contact with employers.

Also with other online services, job seekers can post for free, but often purchase upgrades" to provide them a higher level of exposure to browsing employers. What these job seekers may not realize is that in this economic climate, when a single job posting nets hundreds of resumes, it isnt likely employers are actually paying extra for browsing services.

Says Perry, Enabling hiring employers in our area to easily and cost-effectively find local candidates increases our potential to keep jobs and employers in the region. Offering incentives to local employers to use local resources affords our local workforce with more opportunities to find work in the region. Keeping our people employed and keeping business in the region strengthens our economy. And thats just good for everyone."

Additionally, Perry hopes the site will be a tool for regional networking through community calendars and forums to support business, community, and political awareness issues. The web site TheJobWire.com officially launched May 7th, 2005.
