Finally fashion has turned toward the pretty feminine. It used to be a taboo to suggest that a fashion was simply put-- pretty. ÂNow it is recognizably in vogue to wear pretty clothes as a way of expressing oneÂs femininity, says Mehera Shaw designer, Shari Keller. With the idea of pretty comes the skirt; it is the perfect wardrobe piece for every women. There are so many shapes and cutsÂthere is something that will flatter every figure. Ultimately the skirt can make any women feel feminine and pretty.
Mark and Shari Keller, the entrepreneurial owners of the upstart fashion house, Mehera Shaw, based in Carrboro, N.C. say they have based their entire philosophy around the restoration of femininity. They began their colorful clothing line in 1999 before fashion had turned its sensibilities toward femininity. ÂWhen we opened our first boutique in Asheville, NC, a shop full of unabashedly pretty and truly feminine clothes, people used to find it outrageous. Now, finally woman are able to enjoy feminine clothingÂfeminine not in the sense of sexy, glamorous or impractical, but truly be yourself femininity, comments Shari.
ÂThis year we have really emphasized the skirtÂit is simply so feminine and can be worn well by women with many body types. It is the perfect fabric for a southern summerÂcool with a beautiful drapeÂand can be dressed up or down to wear for both work and socializing. We love beautiful clothes. We believe women can look and feel truly feminine when they dress in pretty clothes. We have a wide range of skirt styles in cotton voile and in beautifully happy colors.Â
Mehera Shaw fashions emphasize natural fabrics and hand block printed cottons. Their design philosophy centers around restoration: of femininity, of natural beauty, of the environment, and of human relations. ÂWe love femininity in all its aspects and want to express natural beauty through dress, says, Shari.
