PayPal Expands Web Services Offering with New Software Development Kit

PayPal adds seven new APIs to support Website payment pro.

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) June 20, 2005 --- PayPal today expanded its Web services offering by introducing a new software development kit (SDK) to help developers more easily integrate with the PayPal platform. Available as a free download to members of the PayPal Developer Network, the SDK supports PayPals application programming interfaces (APIs), including seven new APIs required to integrate PayPals new product for small to medium sized businesses, Website Payments Pro.

Website Payments Pro features two payment functions that require Web services integration with the PayPal platform: Express Checkout and Direct Payments. It also features a series of new tools that make it easier for merchants to authorize and settle payments according to their own business requirements. The new SDK provides developers with access to the seven new APIs that support integration of these products: SetExpressCheckout, GetExpressCheckoutDetails DoExpressCheckoutPayment, DoDirectPayment, DoReauthorization, DoVoid, and DoCapture.

As more SMBs choose PayPal as their online payment method, they will need developers to help them integrate the required APIs," said Dave Nielsen, manager of PayPal Developer Network (PDN). PayPal gives developers and solution providers a tremendous business opportunity to integrate merchants into the PayPal platform -- and also to build new, innovative e-commerce applications that dont yet exist."

Visit the software developer's page on the PayPal site to download the new PayPal SDK. It includes sample code and applications for PayPal Web Services. PayPal Web Services are based on open standards, supporting Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) and Web Services Description Language (WSDL).

The PayPal Developer Network (PDN) enables merchants and developers to quickly and easily add eCommerce capabilities to their Web sites and applications. PDN provides its more than 300,000 members with a wide range of tools and resources for developing solutions that incorporate PayPal's secure and cost-effective payment service.
