Boulder, CO (PRWEB) June 22, 2005 -- Amadeus Consulting, a leading custom software development company, today announced the completion of a series of technology development projects for Spyder Active Sports, an international manufacturer of high-performance apparel for skiing and other outdoor sports. The projects are part of a strategy to position the business for a period of accelerated growth following the July 2004 acquisition of Spyder by Apax Partners, one of the world's leading private equity groups.
The primary initiative, a Dealer Extranet," is a secure Web-based system for processing product orders from Spyders sales representatives and distributors in over 50 countries. The Extranet represents a significant improvement to the way sales orders are handled. Instead of exchanging via email, sales order forms are managed and processed through the Extranet which handles multiple versions of the order forms for over 15,000 different products. Because of the size and diversity of the companys dealer network, adoption of the Extranet and new order process was expected to take some time. However, the rate of adoption exceeded expectations, and the system was quickly expanded to handle digital asset management, including the secure distribution of pre-season product images and marketing materials.
Additionally, Amadeus developed interrelated solutions to further automate the sales ordering process through integration with Spyders ERP (enterprise resource planning) system and generation of sales order forms directly from the product inventory database. Prior to the actual custom software development, Amadeus assisted Spyder with its technology needs assessment, project planning and best practices for systems integration and design.
According to Doug Saunders, Vice President of Operations for Spyder, This is a great example of applying technology to automate and accelerate labor-intensive processes with an immediate return on investment. Amadeus demonstrated real technical mastery with a strong business-consulting perspective and continues to play an important role in setting the future direction of our IT strategy."
As a result of these efforts, Spyder has successfully enhanced its ability to process sales orders more efficiently through the implementation of more scalable, cost-effective systems. The company will continue to implement solutions that enable its long-term growth and continuously improve service to its customers.
