Announcing a new CEO for Activated Content, the industry leader in digital audio watermarking providing solutions for combating piracy.

Activated Content Corporation, the leader in digital audio watermarking technology solutions for the music industry, today announced the appointment of Eric Silberstein as CEO and Director. Silberstein will pilot the next phase of accelerated growth and help shape the Bellevue, Washington based company’s strategy in the international entertainment markets.

Silberstein brings to this assignment more than 25 years’ experience transforming technology and other enterprises into profitable growth businesses. Equally valuable to the company are his extensive relationships in the film, cable and electronic equipment industries.

“I am very pleased to welcome Eric as the leader of our new management team,” said David Cannon, President and Director of Activated Content Corporation. “He is a seasoned executive with the experience to operate successfully in an entrepreneurial environment and put in place a strong organizational structure to support profitable and rapid growth.”

Silberstein led startup technology companies such as CanCall and SH Digital Images, which were developed and merged into public companies or sold for cash and stock. He spearheaded the commercialization of Biozyme Systems Inc. intellectual property, and formed and operated the U.S. Bank ITC. Silberstein built the natural resource complex of ESI Marine Ltd., Seacatcher Fisheries Inc. and Emerald Seafoods Inc. into a worldwide company. Years of corporate finance experience with Merrill Lynch capital markets brought him into close working relationships with many of the top Northwest (United States) public and private companies.

Silberstein will spearhead a $5 million equity investment round seeded by $1 million in initial financing provided by FlashPoint Ventures late last year. The proceeds will fund marketing, sales, and working capital requirements. “With the Activated watermarking system in direct or indirect use by all four Major Record Labels,” said Silberstein, “ it’s become the defacto standard in the music pre-release production and distribution industry.” He continued, “Activated has recurring revenues and is positioned for accelerated growth. Our team will move quickly to tap the $1.2 billion opportunity in movies, games and digital-on-demand entertainment production, distribution, and asset management markets.” SonyBMG and Universal Music Group are the largest customers using Activated Content’s patented IP to stem losses from piracy.

Silberstein graduated from American University with a BA and MA in international economics and finance. His public sector experience includes senior staff positions in the U.S. Congress, and Presidential appointee positions in the Departments of Transportation and Commerce.
