Calgary, Alberta Computer Donations and Recycling Urgently Needs the Help of Residents and Organizations in Calgary, Edmonton and Alberta

Laptops and old computers wanted, to help out low income people, non profit organizations, and 3rd world

Calgary, Alberta (PRWEB) June 22, 2005 -- Unwanted electronics fill our landfills, at a staggering rate. The people at MDG in Calgary, and several other retailers have decided to take a first step, in dealing with the impact of the millions of tons of electronics currently ending up in our countries landfills. This depot donation and recycling program between MDG, Memory Express, BCOM Computers, and Electronic Recycling Association promises a start, to responsibly dealing with this modern concern.

MDG and Electronic Recycling Association partner up to offer this joint program to Calgarians who wish to donate their old computer equipment. Companies are asked to drop off their items at the main ERA location, and residents at MDG and other depot locations. From there these items will be collected by the Electronic Recycling Association of Alberta and dealt with appropriately.

Items to be acccepted include: computers, laptops, networking equipment, stereo equipment, vcrs, dvds, and other electronic items.

Electronic equipment will be accepted free of charge from companies and individuals. Refurbished equipment will be put it to good use by providing it to people on low incomes, charities, start up businesses and any other groups that can benefit from this social and environmentally beneficial program. All unusable components will be provided to specialist companies that are members of the Electronic Recycling Association and can recycle these items environmentally.

Many of the Calgary's are participating in this program to reduce the amount of electronic waste they send into the landfills. Server, networking, and telecom equipment can also be donated for reuse and recycling purposes through this program.

So if you have electronic equipment you want to dispose of in an environmentally responsible way please contact MDG or the Electronic Recycling Association to discuss your items and schedule a drop off, and start being a part of the local solution! If your organization wishes to hold a similar event for recycling of computers and electronic items in Alberta please contact the E.R.A.
