Wireless Credit Card Processing now Available for most US Merchants

After nearly two years of waiting, the GPRS / EDGE wireless network has been fully certified for wireless credit card processing, making wireless processing an option for most US businesses.

(PRWEB) June 23, 2005 -- After nearly two years of waiting, the GPRS / EDGE wireless network has been fully certified for wireless credit card processing, making wireless processing an option for most US businesses.

Until now, wireless credit card machines were limited to processing on restrictive low coverage cellular networks. These networks have been great for the data transfer requirements of wireless credit card machines, but have had very limited coverage especially in rural areas. There were 5 states with no coverage at all, and most states only have coverage in and around major cities. Now that the GPRS / EDGE cellular network is certified for wireless credit card processing, wireless processing available for most businesses in the US.

What is the GPRS / EDGE cellular network? The GPRS / EDGE network is an advanced cellular network capable of high speed data transfer, perfect for the strict encryption, speed, and data volume requirements of wireless credit card machines. The GPRS network is what many cell phones currently operate on. The EDGE network is an extension of this wireless network, which allows for faster data transfer and better security than the standard GPRS network.

What makes the GPRS / EDGE network better? The GPRS network is an existing cellular network that has extensive coverage in all states. The old networks have very poor coverage compared to the GPRS network. Processing on the GPRS network will give businesses that need wireless processing much better cellular coverage compared to what they currently have.

The Lipman Nurit 8000G wireless credit card machine is currently the only terminal certified to process on the GPRS network in the US. This terminal costs the same as any other comparable wireless terminal, but offers the ability to process on the GPRS network. The Nurit 8000G also utilizes the pre-existing networks for even greater cellular coverage. The ability to process on all available networks makes the Nurit 8000G the best option available for businesses who need the ability to process wireless.

Wireless credit card processing is not only a great system, but it is often a necessary tool for a business to be successful in a competitive environment. The most common businesses to benefit from wireless processing are mobile businesses such as mobile repair and utility, locksmiths, and towing companies. But, more and more high-end restaurants and other businesses are also showing interest in wireless processing to provide the best security and convenience for their customers.
