Lefterer.com Announces Hearing Aid Drive for Congressman Adam Putnam

Political web center Lefterer.com, reacting to a lamentable situation that occurred on the floor of the House of Representatives today (Friday, June 24) has started a hearing-aid drive to help Congressman Adam Putnam of Florida's 12th district hear better.

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 26, 2005 -- Lefterer.com is starting a national hearing aid drive in response to Representative Adam Putnam's misinterpretation of a voice-vote in the House of Representatives Friday when, during hearings on United Airline's defaulting on its pensioners, leaving the American Taxpayer to pay the bill, the honorable gentleman called the vote for the side with fewer supporters. In the incident in question a voice-vote was called to determine support for an amendment to the bill under consideration that would have prevented the government bailing United Airlines out from becoming a precedent. Though anyone with normal hearing could easily tell that the lions share of the lawmakers present supported the amendment and that only one opposed it, Putnam, due to his hearing disability, made an honest mistake.

Putnam's hearing problem, if not dealt with soon, could lead to even more lamentable misunderstandings in the legislature. "We don't want that, and we don't think Putnam wants that." said Lefterer.com cofounder Benjamin Harrison. "I don't think anyone in their right mind would have opposed an amendment to shield the American taxpayer from a precedent of the government bailing poorly managed companies out of their pension obligations. Putnam made an error stemming from an obvious hearing loss, and we simply want to help him correct that."

Lefterer, which started gathering hearing aids and donations on Friday, plans to send these donations to the handicapped congressman on July 5th, the day after Independance day, as a reference to the national holiday. "We'll be celebrating our independence and then helping Putnam declare independence from hearing loss. It will truly be a patriotic couple of days," commented Joshua Jones, Lefterer.com co-founder and head Floridian.

Congressman Putnam, who represents Florida's 12th district, could not be reached for comment, but Lefterer.com is sure that the honerable gentleman will truly appreciate this gift on behalf of the American people sponsored by Lefterer.com. Gosh bless America!
