Founded in 1976 by Richard Ellison and his wife Leona, the mission is to share a message of hope and faith without prejudice. They serve areas of the world that need prayer and educate people about those in need. They also raise awareness of lesser known but equally needy areas.
In 1997 Help Ministries started a program in the US, of consumer debt management to help individuals manage their consumer debt more effectively. Since its inception, the debt management program has affected thousands of people through education and personal debt management programs.
Help Ministries International missions program works primarily in Eastern Europe, but new programs are emerging in places such as Kenya and Mexico. In 1994 this devoted group established a radio ministry in Romania and that was the beginning of 101.7FM SOS Radio in Ploiesti, Romania. This has helped them spread the message of Jesus Christ to Romania and the surrounding areas and throughout the world via Internet radio.
Aside from spreading the word, Help Ministries also provides humanitarian assistance to Romania and in recent years, Kosovo and Bulgaria in the form of food, clothing, hygiene essentials, medical supplies and other resources.
A large part of what they do involves training and equipping nationals from particular regions to become self-sufficient in their own culture, while actively pursuing a Christian lifestyle.
