A Dream Night Out at Leighton
(PRWEB) July 4, 2005 -- This month sees the return of The Festival Players Theatre Company to Leighton Hall as part of its annual Shakespeare in the Garden tour.
Following last years acclaimed Twelfth Night" The Company, now in its 20th year, brings a sparkling, fresh production of Shakespeares most popular open-air" comedy, "A Midsummer Nights Dream."
Leightons beautiful gardens will be transformed into an enchanted forest for the annual visit of The Festival Players on Thursday 28th and Friday 29th July 2005 at 7:30pm.
The play is set largely in a magical woodland inhabited by Oberon the King of the Fairies and his impish assistant Puck. By their magic, two sets of young and passionate lovers are cross-matched, and the Queen of the Fairies, Titania, falls in love with a local yokel who has lost his head.
Heading up the company is Michael Dyer the Artistic Director of The Festival Players. He said, After completing successful shows in Gloucester, Wales and London, our tour moves northwards. With only one date in Lancashire, we always look forward to coming to Leighton Hall. It really is the perfect setting for a for a balmy summer's evening of magic, mirth and music!"
The music is composed and directed by the Cotswolds best-known singer/songwriter, Johnny Coppin. Formerly of the band, Decameron, he collaborated with Cider with Rosie" author Laurie Lee, on the album The Edge of the Day". He now features regularly on Radio and Television.
Suzie Reynolds of Leighton Hall said Its always a real treat to see Shakespeare so brilliantly brought to life. Fairy intrigue, romance and the sort of bawdy humour youd expect from a character called Bottom" are just some of the magical ingredients of this years performance, together with the wonderful original music."
Leightons gardens open at 6pm for pre-performance picnics. Since this is an open-air production, visitors should bring their own seating and warm clothes! The performance will last approximately 2 hours including an interval.
Tickets priced 12.50 for adults and 9.00 for children are available from Leighton Hall on 01524 734474, Kendal Tourist Information Centre on 01539 725758, Lancaster Tourist Information Centre on 01524 32878 and Morecambe Tourist Information Centre on 01524 582808.
