Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) July 3, 2005 -- The Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame has begun the nomination process for its third class of Inductees with local fans already playing a major role. Philadelphia sports fans can nominate their favorites to be considered for induction into the Philly Sports Hall and supporters of the late John McAdams are leading the way.

From now through September 1, 2005, the public can submit nominees for consideration as inductees into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame. The nominations can be submitted online, via email or on paper through US mail. As part of its nomination process, the Hall of Fame relies heavily on input from fans, with the top nominees submitted by the public included on the election ballot.

The recent passing of longtime Palestra and local sports announcer John McAdams has already spurred dozens of nominations for his induction. McAdams, far and away the leading nominee to date, will be a candidate for the Hall's Legacy of Excellence" honor.

"Fans are an integral part of what makes the Philadelphia sports scene the best in the nation, and we strongly encourage them to again participate in our nomination process," states the Hall's Senior Director of Foundation Development Steve Tallant. "Mr. McAdams was such a part of Philadelphia sports and this unique formula allows his fans to be directly involved the Hall of Fame process."

Nominations can be submitted through the Hall of Fame web site (http://www.phillyhof.org/nominee.asp), via email (nominees @ phillyhall.net) or through the mail (Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame, PO Box 58667 Philadelphia, PA 19102). All nominations must include the nominee's accomplishments and/or contributions along with the submitter's contact information.

The Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame is open to athletes, coaches, media, administrators and other contributors in all areas of professional, college, amateur, high school and youth sports. Candidates must have been born in or performed in the Philadelphia area and meet certain eligibility requirements in order to be considered.
