Joe Shea, Editor-in-chief of The American Reporter, released a June 26th 2005 review of Stephan ZimmermannÂs explosive political thriller, The Christmas Strike. The review was published on Shea's website, http://erhc.blogspot.com. Exerpts from the review follow.
Shea, an award-winning journalist, opines about The Christmas Strike:
ÂStephan Zimmerman  has written a novel that  investors will find so uncomfortable they might want to ask Congress to send in the U.S. Army to stop its publication.
ÂHis 2004 novel is the story of a terrorist plot to unleash an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) device against the United States, but its subplots include the efforts of a United States Senator from California to call a nationwide general strike on Christmas Eve  to further both his political and private ambitions. Â
ÂThe real terrorist plot that opens the novel unfolds in simple, terrifying steps. No American who remembers Sept. 11 will find it the least bit implausible, I warn you. China is a secret player in the background of the story that only emerges when the climax offers its generals a frightening opportunity.
ÂIts driving momentum and constant suprises will carry even the most illiterate Raging Bull poster swiftly along to the terrifying climax.Â

The Christmas Strike caught Shea's attention since much of the novel's plot revolves around the new offshore oil finds in the Gulf of Guinea, off the coast of West Africa. The controversial issues surrounding oil strikes in the region have recently been much discussed in political and economic circles. Major players in the oil industry sector, including Chevron, Exxon, and Murphy oil have various stakes in the region.
